Western Space
This painting came out of me very quickly and whenever I look at it I tend to focus on different things. It has an unsettling feeling about it. The western area of Queensland shows lots of evidence of having once been under water-primarily by the smoothed stones. Now the pains are generally dry and brown and ochre. One of the common trees is the ‘ghost gum’. There used to be nomadic Aboriginal people throughout this country, but they were either purposely killed, died from disease or were rounded up and shipped to missions.
